Take precautions: South Florida #1 spot for identity theft

Nearly 10,000 consumer complaints about identity theft were filed in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties in 2010, according to the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book.


South Florida had 184.2 complaints per 100,000 population, the Data Book found.

Overall, Florida also leads the other 49 states in the number of identity theft complaints.
